Travelling time by commuter train between Stockholm Central Station and Sollentuna Centre is about 15 minutes. The travelling time to Arlanda Airport is about 25 minutes by car.
There are five local railway stations in Sollentuna – from south to north: Helenelund, Sollentuna, Häggvik, Norrviken and Rotebro. Sollentuna also has good bus services. There are good bus connections to Danderyd, Täby, Kista/Akalla and Karolinska hospital.
Sollentuna is the infrasturctural hub of Northen Stockholm.
The Swedish Transport Administration is building the Stockholm Bypass, a new stretch of the E4, west of Stockholm. In Häggvik, the Stockholm Bypass will connect to the existing E4 Uppsalavägen motorway, the Norrortsleden Thoroughfare, and the local road network. Work in Sollentuna began in 2015, and is expected to be completed by 2026. The Stockholm Bypass is one of Sweden’s biggest road projects ever.
The Norrortsleden Thoroughfare, which was completed in the autumn of 2008, has improved communications, and now, connections with Kista and the E18 are also improved. The Stockholm Bypass will be an important hub in Stockholm’s traffic.
The Swedish Transport Administration is now rebuilding road 267, the Rotebroleden Thoroughfare between the Stäket and Rotebro junctions. The road is around six kilometres long, and constitutes an important connection between the E18 and the E4. Today, the road carries a lot of traffic, and both safety and environment need to be improved. The construction will be ready in 2019.
Stockholm County Council is extending the light rail to Kista and Helenelund. The new stretch will extend between Norra Ulvsunda and Helenelund. The plan is for traffic to begin running on the Helenelund Kista branch by 2023.
