In a shrinking world English as a means of communication is playing an ever increasing role. At Sollentuna International School we see proficiency in the English language as a key to our students’ future success.
The multinational blend of our students and teachers provides a foundation for increased tolerance and understanding for other cultures and traditions. Over 26 languages are represented promoting an international environment and increased awareness. Friendships are made across the different ethnic backgrounds.
We follow the Swedish National Curriculum with most lessons taught in English in Years 7, 8 and 9. Year 6 is the transition year where students are given extra support. During this time there is a gradual change over to English. In the lower years teaching is in Swedish. In the middle years (4, 5 and 6) students are encouraged to develop their English skills further in preparation for the International English Profile.
We have strong traditions in the school emphasising both the Swedish and International profile of the school. These include UN Day, Lucia, end of term performances, Culture Day and the Year 9 Ball. We are currently looking to develop links with English speaking schools in Europe.
